The last thing you remembered was traveling down a Georgia road without incident. The next thing you experienced was a violent jolt that seemed to last forever and happened in an instant — all at the same time. By the time your vehicle came to a stop, it still probably took you some time to realize you were just in a car accident.

When emergency responders arrived, they took you to an area hospital. The shock may not have allowed you to realize the extent of your injuries. All you knew was that you were in pain and in need of medical care. It may have taken days for you to understand how serious your injuries really were.

Now that you are out of the hospital, you may need extensive follow-up care and need to remain home while you recover. In the meantime, your medical bills will pile up and your income will go down. If you are like most people, you do not have the monetary resources to get you and your family through this financially unscathed. The last thing you need at this time is to worry about money or dealing with insurance companies.

If it turns out that the car accident resulted from the negligence or recklessness of another driver, you could exercise your right to file a personal injury claim against the other driver. You could pursue financial restitution and other damages allowed under Georgia law. Should this result in an award of damages, it could provide you with the ability to regain the financial footing you lost when the accident occurred.
